World-leading ICT cluster - Kista Science City
Building Blocks to Innovation and Growth

Stockholm, with Kista Science City as its ICT business and innovation epicenter, has a historical track record of positioning itself as a world leader when it comes to ICT innovations and growth. Kista Science City is historically particularly prominent in mobile and wireless communication, multimedia and broadband systems. Today this is complemented by strong growth in several IT-intensive business and technology fields, like biomedical engineering (Medtech) and environmental engineering (Cleantech).
Today there is strong global demand for solutions that don’t contribute to global warming or the ongoing degradation of our ecosystems. A sector that caters to this demand has emerged, providing systems, solutions and technologies that improve welfare without burdening ecosystems. The most commonly used term for this sector is “Cleantech.”
Sweden and especially the Stockholm region have been, and remain, on the cutting edge of this sector when it comes to the research and development of sustainable solutions. Intelligent integrated urban management systems and political stimulus of research and deployment of innovation are giving the ICT and Cleantech sectors strong impetus and helping to exploit their societal potential.
