Creative cluster - Sustainable design and fashion in a regenerated industrial area

In the setting of an industrial landscape and famous landmark, Ericsson’s old factory at Telefonplan in Stockholm, a new centre for creative industry is growing. The initiative to turn this area into a hot-spot of creativity is inspired by the cultural heritage of the old architecture of heavy industries and attracts and supports young innovators and entrepreneurs.
In this Deep Dive you will:
- Meet creative designers and entrepreneurs working on sustainable
solutions;
- Learn about the growth of the cluster and the role of Stockholm City and other supporters in this process;
- See how climate change inspires the creative industries in a hands-on way through presentations by designers of their sustainable designs, concepts, fashion, and furnishings;
- Discuss how the seeds of a creative cluster are sown: what are its preconditions for growth, what role should the city play, and how should co-operation with other key institutions and companies be organised so as to not drain the creativity of the creators?
- Be introduced to Creative Metropoles, a project with 11 participating cities aiming to showcase the key elements and best practice of what makes a well-functioning, focused, flexible and efficient public support system for creative industries.
Rob ter Steege, programme manager of cultural affairs in Eindhoven will discuss, together with Mats Sylwan (Stockholm), the strategies for entrepreneurship and creative clusters in their respective cities.
Your hosts for this Deep Dive are Mats Sylwan, Culture Strategist, Culture Administration and Monica Slama, Manager of Project Unit, City District Hägersten-Liljeholm
